The Markdown Block allows a user to insert text into a SAM using the full capabilities of what is possible with Markdown when published. SAMs use Markdown as it is more secure than HTML. The Settings allow you to work directly in Markdown or by WYSIWYG with Markdown functionality available as a selection. More information and a tutorial on learning Markdown can be found here.
The following will describe the functionality while in WYSIWYG mode of the Block as Markdown Power Users will already know what to do. :)
Headings:
Select the size of the text from the menu selection
Bold:
Toggles text selection between BOLD and not BOLD
Italics:
Toggles text selection between Italics and non-Italics
Text Color:
Allows selected text to have a color of choice.
Strikethrough
Toggles selected text to be a strikethrough or not
Quote
HIghlights selected text as a quote
Unordered List
Enter a bulleted list of items
Ordered List
Enter a numbered list of items
Hyperlink
Enter a URL on selected Text
Insert Image
The user is prompted to select an image and it will be inserted in the block at the cursor position
Insert Table
The user is promoted with an XY grid to select the number of rows and columns which can then be filled out once created.
Text entered into the table can have text properties applied such as color, bold, italics, etc.
Inline Code
Allows a selection of text to be highlighted. One of two ways used to display code for programmers
Insert codeBlock
Allows for a larger section of text to be highlighted in a block as the second way to display code for programmers.
Padding
Padding allows for the content to be manipulated within its block on all sides by entering a percentage or pixel value.
